When the Rain Came, the Stage Disapeared;
Galiani Gypsy Jazz in Prague

Prague, Czech Republic - May 28, 2025

Galiani Gypsy Band performs at Čapadlo Summer Terrace, Prague, Czech Republic - May 28, 2025

When sudden rain forced Galiani Gypsy Jazz and their audience from a spacious Prague beer garden into a narrow bar interior, barriers disappeared and energy heightened. What was meant to be an outdoor summer concert (performed on stage), became something far more special: a packed, shoulder-to-shoulder experience where fans stood just inches from musicians as they played.

The crowd leaned in close as Milan Galyáš and Miroslav Filko exchanged solos with the violin and clarinet, almost as if they were in a dance-off. Guest singers Mária Bikárová and Marta Balažová got everyone, from children to seniors, clapping and shimmying their shoulders. In the most intimate performance of the week, music fans were able to commingle and share in the energy of traditional Romani music fused with jazz.

Khamoro is the world’s largest Romani music and culture festival, celebrated every summer in Prague.
