1st Pool Photoshoot; Brand Photos for a Social Media Manager

During the planning call with Jordanna, the CEO of Jac Digital, I asked her to tell me about her hobbies and interests. I feel doing this always helps me generate ideas for the photoshoot, and of course, it helps me get to know more about my new clients. Jordanna told me that she honestly just loves hanging out at the pool and the beach….and all I heard was POOL! I had really been wanting to do a pool photoshoot in general, whether it be a passion project or a client shoot. We started thinking about pools we could possibly use and Jordanna realized that the best friend of her grandparents has a pool. Luckily they did not mind us using it!

Jordanna is a social media manager and strategist who works with a pretty big variety of clients, ranging from personal trainers to hair product companies. After being in business for herself for 5 years, Jordanna felt like it was time for a little bit of a rebrand. She decided to redo her website and needed some new photos to reflect how she has grown. She wanted to come across as fun, trendy and relatable.

THE SET

We started off at Jordanna’s home office at 4 pm and made sure to get a few shots in her favorite room of the house which is her walk-in closet.
Around 5 pm we headed over to the pool and shot as the sun was getting lower in the sky and softer. We brought lots of props with us including some fruit I had pre-cut before the shoot, drinks and ice, a magazine, and some work materials. We wanted to capture that coveted entrepreneur who is free to work by the pool vibe. Around 6 pm we headed to a bar called The Apparatus Room which is located in a downtown Detroit hotel. This location is perfect for lifestyle shots as there are giant windows letting in a lot of light and the staff here always seem to be really relaxed. Around 7 pm we finished the photoshoot with a few outside shots on a couple of street corners not far from the bar.
